Vivo has finally taken the wraps off its beast of a smartphone called the Xplay 5 Elite. The smartphone was announced at a special event in China. However, Vivo also had another surprise for its fans, in the form of a mid-range Xplay 5 smartphone as well. Both handsets run Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vivo’s custom Funtouch launcher. The Vivo Xplay 5 Elite will be priced at CNY 4,288 (approximately Rs 44,308) while the Xplay 5 will sell for CNY 3,698 (approximately Rs 38,215). Both handsets will go on sale in China from March 8.
As per previous leaks, the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite does pack in a whopping 6GB RAM. The design again is similar to past leaks and sports dual curved edges not just on the front, but on the metal back as well. All-in-all, it does look like a refined mix of a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and the Mi 5.
Coming to the specs of the Vivo Xplay 5, the device packs in a 5.4-inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display. Inside, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 coupled with 6GB of RAM and the new Adreno 530 GPU. Indeed, this does sound like a powerful setup, but there’s more.

Vivo has also packed in 128GB of internal storage and a fingerprint reader on the back. For the cameras, the smartphone maker went with a 16MP Sony IMX298 rear camera along with PDAF and dual tone LED flash. One will also find an 8MP front facing camera on the device. As for the connectivity options, the Xplay 5 Elite packs in dualSIM slots, LTE radios and a 3600mAh battery.
Coming to the more affordable version, the Vivo Xplay 5, we get the same hardware in terms of a Quad HD display and 128GB of storage but cuts down on the processor and the RAM. The Xplay 5 gets a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 with 4GB of RAM. credit firstpost.com
